Studying Modelmaking. (UK Degree courses specialising in modelmaking study.)

  • University of Hertfordshire: Offering a trio of modelmaking and visual effects based courses in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. A course on which Will has taught, on a part-time basis for several years.
  • The Arts University College at Bournemouth: Formerly The Arts Institute at Bournemouth. This course is run from well equipped studios in Bournemouth, Dorset. An exiting and creative course that encourages students to build a wide range of skills and a good understanding of how to combine emerging digital techniques and traditional craft skills.

  • Architectural Modelmaking. Nick Dunn: An contemporary book that clearly explains the design and use of architectural models in a variety of styles. A 'must-read' for all students of architectural modelmaking.
  • Architectural Supermodels.Tom Porter and John Neale: A fantastic introduction to what architectural modelmaking is all about. A key text for all students of architectural modelmaking.
  • Architectural Models. Ansar Oswald: An inspiring collection of architectural modelmaking, mostly from Austria and Germany. Another 'must-read' for all students of architectural modelmaking.
  • Modelbuilding. Alexander Schilling: A small book that describes the process of making simple development models well. Recommended for students of architecture.
  • Modeling Messages. Karen Moon: A more in-depth look at modelmaking, while still being easily accessible to the reader.
  • Professional Modelmaking. Norman Trudeau: A good, general, book that explains the use of models by designers and introduces a large variety of tools, materials and techniques.
  • Blue Universe. Gerald Zugmann: Difficult to find, and expensive, but contains some wonderful examples of model photography.
  • Future Systems. Marcus Field: Containing many examples of models that Will Strange made while part of Unit 22, working for Future Systems.
